Nuthatch lodge, comfortable, cosy, quirky
Nuthatch Lodge is very similar to Honeysuckle Lodge, having big sliding windows and a veranda overlooking a meadow with views towards Dartmoor. It’s a great place for your relaxing self-catering holiday in Devon. Trees on three sides give you privacy and bring the birdsong to your doorstep. Nuthatch Lodge has a good sized living room and fully-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms aren’t huge, but Nuthatch offers much more space than most glamping pods. Read on for more details, or check availability.
Inside the Lodge
Unobtrusive on the outside, inside Nuthatch lodge is cosy and warm. The solar hot water has immersion back up, and your power (included) is from our 11kW wind turbine (and green grid backup). Nuthatch Lodge has a wrap around veranda, with a swing seat, and a picnic table. Steps down lead to the meadow.
Nuthatch Lodge sleeps 4 people in a double room and a cross-over bunk room. A sofa bed in the living room means everyone can be a ‘single’ if they want to (let us know if you need this). The beds will be made up ready for your holiday.
In the kitchen you’ll find everything you need. There is a microwave and conventional (electric) oven, induction hob, sink, workspace, kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery, and a full sized fridge freezer.
The living area has comfortable chairs, a TV, and DVD player. This eco lodge has free wifi.
The bathroom has a short bath (good for young kids) and an over-the-bath shower. Wheatland Farm provides a towel for each guest.
Want something more conventional? Try Otter Cottage (sleeps 4). Or if you need more space try Beech Lodge (sleeps 6, and has a hot tub) or more luxurious Balebarn Lodge (sleeps 8).
Eco Lodge With Electric Car Charging
You can charge your electric car while staying at Nuthatch Eco Lodge – just arrange a time at the old farmhouse. Wheatland Farm has an untethered PodPoint 7.5Kw, where you can charge and pay with the PodPoint app. We also have a 2Kw three pin socket outlet available, so please bring your cables, including your old style three pin one, so this back up is available to you. Plus, then you’ll have plenty of options while in Devon, as well as at Wheatland Farm.
At And Near Wheatland Farm
After a great day exploring Devon, relax on the veranda, watch the birds, play volleyball / badminton on the mown court, challenge someone to a game of outdoor chess, or just enjoy a BBQ at your eco lodge or near the communal camp fire site. If you’re staying with us in the summer holidays, we usually do a pizza night once a week where we fire up the Wheatland Farm pizza oven and everyone brings their own. (The oven is also available for exclusive hire).
Your dogs are welcome with us! Two dogs can come on holiday with you,. There’s no extra charge in Nuthatch Lodge. We do ask you to keep dogs on leads as Wheatland Farm is a nature reserve. Nuthatch Lodge has a gated veranda, so dogs can chill with you there without restraint. There’s plenty of great walks nearby – just ask us for suggestions or browse our things to do web pages.
A short walk up the road (or borrow a free bike) takes you to a great farm shop on the neighbouring farm. Winkleigh village is a mile and half away and has a lovely florist and coffee shop (Catkin Blooms – vegan options available), two pubs, a small convenience store and several other shops including a local butcher. Plenty of other nearby pubs have oodles of character – and good food too!
Bookings for Nuthatch Lodge include all your electricity, beds made up, and scones (or a vegan alternative) on arrival. And your holiday will be almost as green as Devon’s countryside – with free bikes to borrow, 100% renewable power, extensive recycling facilities etc, which have all helped Wheatland Farm win numerous awards.
