Award winning Devon accommodation
Wheatland Farm is a nature reserve that has won many accolades for green tourism. We held Gold in the Green Tourism Business Scheme from 2008 to 2016 (but have now left the scheme due to concerns about its expansion plans) and held Gold level approval from the Devon Wildlife Trust since 2007 until the scheme was discontinued. In both 2012 and 2015 Wheatland Farm won England’s top national award for sustainable tourism (the Gold award from Visit England). We’ve won the Gold award for sustainable tourism twice for both Devon (2011,2014) and for the South West region (2012, 2015). We run the whole farm for wildlife, and one third of it, Popehouse Moor, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its culm grassland habitats and rare plants and animals. We use traditional management techniques here in consultation with Natural England and the Devon Wildlife Trust. By staying here you help make this management financially viable. We take great care over the environmental impact of both the business and our own lifestyles – if you want to know more, see our environmental policy, read our greening blogs or ask us a question.
