You want things to do on your Devon holiday, and there’s plenty of entertainment if you’re staying at Wheatland Farm’s Eco Lodges, whether you spend the day at the lodges themselves or just venture a few miles. To help you plan your holiday, we’ve grouped ideas into sections, starting with the big split – are you looking to entertain the kids or put your feet up for some ‘me time’?
In the summer and during the school holidays Wheatland Farm attracts lots of families. Children love the outdoor space, the bikes and go carts, the freedom, fishing, or just the experience of staying in a lodge. But if you’ve travelled to Devon you’ll want to explore wider than just the farm. You don’t have to spend hours in a car though. Wheatland Farm has been collecting and checking out things to do ideas, some quick easy and local, some Devon daytrips. But because we’d love to keep you local, all our suggestions are within a 30 mile radius of the farm.
When kids are in school, Devon is a different place. Shhh, don’t tell too many people, but actually Wheatland Farm is at its most lovely in late spring and early summer. In May and June the flowers are at their best. In September and early October our Devon hedgerows drip with blackberries and the apples are ripening on the trees. These are lovely months for couples to take a romantic Devon break away from the crowds (Wheatland Farm never has more than 26 guests, and in spring and autumn it can be even quieter). Off peak weekends often attract friends get togethers or celebrations for big birthdays! But singles definitely won’t feel out of place. You’re assured a warm welcome. Maggie or Ian will be on hand to share local knowledge and help you have a great Devon holiday.
