It’s Ten Tors weekend again, when 2-3000 young people walk between 35 and 55 miles across Dartmoor, checking in at 10 Tors along the way.
What an event! The kids remember it for years. They’ve been training for months, learning navigation as well as building fitness. Now they’re out there in teams of 6 but otherwise on their own.
We had one son up there this weekend, and it was lovely to run into previous guests (we’re booked up this weekend) at Okehampton Camp too.
We’ve been taking our children up onto Dartmoor for years – in fact crossing Dartmoor with an overnight wild camp is usually one of our summer highlights. But last year, after Ten Tors, the tables were turned and it was son leading a walk for his doddering parent!
