[Ian] It was the Crediton Repair Cafe today. So I spent the morning helping fix things – something I’m very familar with, from keeping the lodges and the cottage in good order at Wheatland Farm! Repair Cafes are part of an international movement where experienced volunteers help people mend household items. Apparently coffee machines are usually one of the top items, though I saw more toasters. But maybe that’s Devon for you.
This was the first Repair Cafe for Crediton, and there’s a plan for more and also for some skills sharing sessions. Great! Moving away from the throw away culture and keeping things out of landfill chimes so well with what we do at Wheatland Farm, so it was great to be involved. I’m looking forward to doing more. Keep an eye on the Crediton Repair Cafe Facebook page for dates if you’ve got something you want to mend rather than chuck, or if you have fix it skills to share.
