Reed buntings at the wildlife pond

During storm Callum, the phragmites at the main wildlife pond got a bit knocked about. They’re still standing – and one benefit is that the reed buntings are easier to spot now. Maybe they’ve been here all summer, but when the reeds are dense with leaves and stems you can’t see more than a few cm into the bed. Now that autumn is rolling on, even without binoculars you can see what’s what.
