In Hatherleigh, maybe for those famous brownies and coffee? Don’t forget to check out the Hatherleigh Pottery, in its charming courtyard. You’ll find lovely hand thrown ceramics and a friendly welcome. You might come away with a treat!
Most of the stoneware is suitable for everyday use in ovens, microwaves and dishwashers, and there’s a good selection of special stuff.
The Hatherleigh Pottery is open Tues to Saturday, from Easter until the end of December. It’s just up the hill from the pub, on the right hand side of the street. You can ring to check: 01837 810624.
Hatherleigh is about 8 miles from Wheatland Farm’s eco lodges. It makes a nice bike ride if you can cope with a few hills. Hatherleigh is just down the road from Meeth Quarry, a Devon Wildlife Trust reserve and the Tarka Trail. It’s a charming Devon village with The George, a restored 15th Century coaching inn, and the even better Cafe Du Ville / One Market Street.
