Want to get in the water? Wheatland Farm isn’t really near the beach – the closest is Westward Ho, about 40 minutes away. But there are other options….
How about the wildlife pond in front of Balebarn? Get up close and personal with the dragonflies!
Or if wet feet is enough, you can paddle in the Taw on the Big Tree Walk (4 miles), or cool off at Bondleigh (about 8 miles).
But if it’s river immersion you’re after, try the Taw between Belstone and Sticklepath – walk down Belstone Cleave until you find the ‘jumping in place’ just before the bridge at Skaigh (Belstone is about 15 miles from Wheatland Farm and is on the edge of wild Dartmoor).
Alternatively, if you want a bit more in the way of nearby facilities, try the river near Fingle Bridge – head right as you approach the bridge and you’ll find the popular spot. The Fingle Bridge Inn is at hand for some refreshments afterwards!
