Exeter’s Haldon Forest Park makes a great day out for all. Those with lots of energy can go mountain biking on a good number of graded trails. For the less active there’s the butterfly walk (part of the Forest is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its wildlife), the cafe, or even Segways to hire!
Haldon Forest is on the outskirts of Exeter, and about 30 miles from Wheatland Farm. It’s signposted from the A30 and A38. You pay to park, so have some change (but you can pay in the rangers office with a card) and you’ll need to remember your vehicle registration number. You can hire bikes right at the entrance, and pick up a leaflet for routes.
Go Ape is based here too, as is a Segway hire company.
Go on a lovely day and you’ll be treated to some great views…
