#30DaysWild No. 27 We’ve refilled the bird feeders, and this Great Spotted Woodpecker is back. But the clip shows it having a ride, as well as a snack. We have to have the strings long to deter the squirrels but surely this must take your concentration away from pecking??
Great Spotted Woodpeckers are quite a common sight at Wheatland Farm, especially around the feeders, but also in their undulating flight across the fields. And earlier in the year they frequently drum in the trees around the lodges. Green woodpeckers are less frequent. If you see one of those definitely let us know, as it would be worth recording here.
