30DaysWild No. 14 Baby Blackbird

This baby blackbird looks like the overnight wind might have ruffled feathers before they were quite ready.

It’s lovely to see youngsters out of the nest after all the hard work the blackbirds have been putting in, and after earlier disasters like the predation of the bike basket nest. But we’ll have to keep fingers crossed – the next day or two will be crucial and fraught with dangers. At least the overnight rain should have softened the ground and brought up some worms. Adult blackbirds with beaks laden are everywhere at the moment. #30DaysWild No. 14
