Here’s the update on the bike shed – it will have to be temporarily closed to all lodge guests, apart from the blackbirds who have moved into a bike basket. Here’s a quick video clip…
Fingers crossed for what looks like a pretty precarious choice of nesting place, with good access to squirrels. But they’ve got this far. So we’ll be quietly moving the rest of the bikes out and closing the shed to visitors. The RSPB says blackbirds take about a fortnight to fledge after hatching (and the egg stage takes about the same time). But the webpage I checked also said two or three broods are common!
Well, family life comes first so we’ll do what we can. More on this story as it unfolds.
