When it’s a bit overcast there can be a silver lining. Or in this case, a chance to see the amazing patterns on the underwings of Orange Tip butterflies as they roost on a rush. I almost brushed these two off with my fingers, thinking they were some kind of flower or fluff on the rush. There’s lots of cuckoo flower in the fields and around the lodges at the moment, the larval food plant for these lovely butterflies. Haven’t heard a cuckoo yet though.
