On Sunday 16 October a 5hr Dartmoor Guided Walk leaves Haytor, Lower Car Park at 10:30. Join local Guide Phil Page as he explores some of the locations used in the book Forest on the Hill by Eden Philpotts. Meet at Haytor lower car park, below the rocks on the B3387 Widecombe-Bovey Tracey road (about 30 miles away) and pay the guide £8.

On Sunday 16 October a 4hr Dartmoor Guided Walk leaves Postbridge at 10:30. A walk through "Dartmoor's wide upland landscape and its relics from man's remote past".  The walk will be a celebration of 60 years of Dartmoor National Park and will be based on the 1" to 1 mile map of the 1950's and the official Dartmoor National Park guide book of the era in order to give a flavour of 1950's Dartmoor. Plus fours, sturdy boots and knapsacks welcome! Meet at the information centre and pay the guide £7. Postbridge is about 28 miles from the cottage and lodges.

On Saturday 22 October a 6hr Dartmoor Guided Walk leaves Haytor, Lower Car Park at 10:00. Ten Tors & the Ten Commandments - An opportunity to visit the Buckland Beacon and look at the 10 commandments which are engraved into the stone there.  The engraving was recently re-carved by the DNPA Stone Mason. Guide T Burges. Distance 10m (16km). Costs £8. Meet at Haytor lower car park, below the rocks on the B3387 Widecombe-Bovey Tracey road. About 30 miles away from the cottage and lodges.

On Sunday 23 October at 09:45 you can try an Introduction to Nordic Walking with the Dartmoor National Park Authority, setting off  from Haytor, Lower Car Park. This 2.5hr activity engages the muscles of the upper body and therefore burns more calories than ordinary walking.  Cost £7.00 which includes tuition and the use of poles.  Booking essential 01822 615513.
On Saturday 9 October a Dartmoor Guided Walk leaves Postbridge at 10:30. This is a 2.5hr walk "In Search of the Dartmoor Pony",  led by the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust. Discover more about this icon of the National Park as it celebrates its 60th Anniversary.  Discover more about how Dartmoor Ponies played a key role in the development of the Dartmoor landscape we see today and how they continue to be used for conservation grazing not only on Dartmoor but in other parts of the country. Meet at the Postbridge Information Centre (can't miss it) - Postbridge is about 28 miles from the cottage and lodges in the heart of Dartmoor. Costs £5.50.
