I thought last February was Devon's dose of snow for the next 10 years, but no! The children were off school today, and the challenge was on to build an even bigger and better igloo than last year. It's difficult to describe how beautiful it is out there, so calm, no traffic noise, barely any bird song. It's overwhelmingly light and bright, yet unless the sun comes out, pictures look rather dull and blue.
The barn owl was about - spot him in this picture - shot across the field from Beech Lodge balcony, so not in great detail! Parties of long-tailed tits broke the silence. Actually, it wasn't that silent at all, not with a 6 year old, a three year old, and a tobogan. I had to use chocolate to bribe them as far as the magic pond, but it was worth it.

Meanwhile, our car free guests in Honeysuckle Lodge walked into Winkleigh for supplies. I doubt the buses were running well today. Thank goodness Emily and Ed arrived yesterday before the snow or we'd have struggled collecting them from the station.
And tomorrow looks set to be more of the same. Well, I guess we'll just have to enjoy it and make up the real work later.
