November woods...
Sunday morning - everyone else has gone to a baptism. But my church is a walk through the wood - the tiny bustle and chink of a cautious wren, busy blue tits, a smart coal tit and the defiant pink of a
bullfinch amongst all that orange and russet. You get to see the bones of the trees at this time of year - bones, resilience and of course some decay, after the recent storms. But out on the grassland there's already the promise of warmer months in the masses of plants springing where cows have left muddy hollows - the place will be alive with flowers after its rest.
