Bees still buzzing

November isn't known for its sunshine, and we've had our fair share of grey. But when the sun comes out, so too do Ian's bees. They head straight for the ivy, flowering on the old barn. And while there's sunshine there's a hum in the air as they stock up on pollen. You can see the bulging yellow pollen sacks on the legs of the bee in the photo.

But as soon as the sun goes behind a cloud they're gone again, presumably back to huddle in the hive.

There's been lots about bees in the news recently - about a population crash across the country. So we hope Ian's bees are OK. It's their first year, so we've not taken any honey yet - they'll need it to see them through the winter when the ivy flowers run out.
