Devon SSSI nature reserve and eco lodges - Maggie's Blog

Autumn sunshine...
Today's guests rang to confirm they wouldn't be here until 4pm. Hurrah - free to go to the nature reserve in the autumn sunshine. We took eggs, cakes, teabags, a skillet and a pan for the kids' hot chocolate, and most importantly the kelly kettle. What a machine - a couple of handfuls of twigs cooked 6 scrambled eggs, two teas, two hot chocolates, and enough water to do the washing up!  Pick it up afterwards, scuff the ground and there's no sign you were there...

But back to the wildlife.... The commas are still flying, alighting on brambles. There are speckled wood butterflies along the edges of the woods, and mushrooms and toadstools are sprouting in the damp soil. Autumn is here, and today was a good day to just enjoy it.
We're pround to have gold level approval from the Devon Wildlife Trust. Click here for more on our environmental policies.
