Happy New Year - January 2012 is starting with a grey sky but at least there are still holly berries to cheer up the gloom. These are at the far end of the nature reserve, where you really definitely need wellies to venture. But if you do brave the squelch and evade the mud monster you might glimpse deer, or maybe an owl hunting in the low light. Meanwhile, spring will be on its way. The crazy daffodil thinks so anyway - it has flowered by the pond again.
