We've decided we needed to do something to make the nature reserve more accessible after the mud of the pond reshaping - particularly for half term. So when Cyril Cole offered us a couple of round bales from last year's hay to unroll like a carpet we jumped at it. It was Cyril who originally advised us about the pond, and reccommended Martin Bragg as the man for the job. Cyril came back and checked the levels for us - the last thing we want now is to top the bank with a winter rain and have the whole thing wash away....

Cyril's hay is local, from Rose Ash, so any flower seeds will be local too, although he wasnt expecting many to be viable. His farm also has wonderful Culm grassland - so good that he opens it up for free guided walks (4 people or more). If anyone's interested, we can put you in touch, or email Kathleen Cole at Kathleen.Cole@tiscali.co.uk. Early summer would be the best time to go though.
