Wheatland Farm Lodges and Cottages
These purple moor grass tussocks are longer than they really should be in well-managed grassland, but they show the majestic shape the plant takes when mature. Apparently they are even appearing in garden centres these days. A recent frosty but sunny morning really lit up the winter colours on the moor, and this shot is from the section we cleared last January with the help of the Devon Wildlife Trust and Natural England.
And this is up by the owl box.
We've had such a wet summer that the cows couldn't spend as much time as we'd have liked in the reserve - we'll have to burn a bit more this winter and graze a bit harder next year. This week the cows finally went home from the big paddock.
