A fox in the lodge field...
When it's quieter the wildlife comes closer. Foxes aren't exactly rare, and in towns and countryside they're often pests. But if you ask me that's no reason to kill them. We'll be shutting up the chickens early, and maybe encouraging Muttley to be out and about around the house in the day a bit more though. Come back next week to see if I've changed my tune!
Meantime this one was hunting for voles in the tussocky grass in front of the lodges. There are plenty to share with the owls!
And the lovely pictures were taken by Ilaria Rilievo, an Italian WWOOFer who's volunteering here with friend Giulia for a week or so. They're staying in Nuthatch Lodge and saw the fox at breakfast.
