Cuckoo flower and tadpoles...
Spring is well underway. I've seen brimstone butterflies, a tatty peacock, an even tattier comma, and now orange tip butterflies. And the orange tip's larval food plant, cuckoo flower (or lady's smock) is in flower too.
As for the pond, the shallows are milling with tadpoles... We have a few on the windowsill in a huge old-fashioned sweet jar. But if you're thinking about keeping some, remember to return them to where they came from wherever possible. If you take them to another site you risk unwittinly transferring vicious diseases that are decimating amphibian populations worldwide.
