Local timber - collecting it ourselves...

Today was the day to collect our wood (Norway spruce)from Mike Moser, having seen it milled ourselves in the oak woodland he is restoring back in February. Thanks to Higher Punchardon Farm for loaning the trailer. We had to do it in two goes, what with the devon lanes and the length of some of the timber. But then it's not far - only about 8 miles. Here's Mike and Ian loading up - not quite the B&Q lumber yard!

This lot will to go repairing what was once a barn for calves. We hope to turn it into a playroom / commonroom type space so younger guests in our lodges can have a bit of separate space to enjoy.
Back home - unloading it all again. It's going into one of two barns we've been using for storage. The other has our firewood in it, and a present a blackbird sitting on newly hatched eggs. We were as careful as we could be, and she was there most of the time we unloaded, but once or twice took fright, giving us time for a quick picture (yes, I really do have the camera with me much of the time)and an excuse for a coffee break.
