Good news for the bees - a kind soul from the North Devon beekeeping club has let Ian have a frame with brood cells, including a queen cell. And Rashid, a bee-keeper just down the road from us in Hollocombe, has given us some workers. So maybe the bees will pull through. Ian has taken out the old queen and put the brood in. The queen should hatch out shortly. Then she needs to be mated, return to the hive, and start laying - workers this time we hope...
How kind people are - responding to a 'help' email to the bee keeping association.
So now it's fingers crossed. With all the diseases we hear about at the moment it would seem such a shame to lose the colony not because of diseases but just because of a drone-laying queen.
