We are Ian (Ripper), Maggie (Watson), and our two boys, George and Euan. We came to Wheatland Farm just before Christmas 2006, when Euan was less than 2 weeks old.
Ian has twenty years of experience in sustainable tourism. He spent many years traveling and working in Africa, but felt stuck in the office when he moved up the ladder and became a director of an adventure travel company.
Maggie is a professional ecologist and science communicator, and wanted to do something tangible for UK conservation. She previously worked for the World Fish Centre in the Caribbean, then the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) in the UK (the organisation in charge of spending your tax money on environmental science) where she published an award-winning quarterly magazine and championed plain language. She still works as a freelance web editor, specialising in putting science stories into plain language.
Together, we manage Wheatland Farm for it's wildlife. It's your stay that makes this conservation project financially viable, and we really hope you love the place as much as we do.
