Sunday 4 November, there's a chance to
visit A 14th Century Dartmoor Longhouse. It's one of the few remaining examples still with its original unaltered shippon (cattle shelter), and is only occassionally open to the public. The 2 hour tour starts at 14:00. Book by ringing 01822 890414, then meet at
Bel Tor Corner, in the car park on the road between Two Bridges and Ashburton. It's about a mile and a half past Dartmeet (and about 38 miles from the lodges). Map reference is SX 694 731. You can take a virtual tour of the Longhouse at

On Sunday 11 November, visit a moorland war memorial on a 4hr 10.5km/6.5m Dartmoor guided walk, via Grimspound, Hameldown and Challacombe. Turn up at King's Oven (map ref. SX675 810), 100m NE of the Warren House Inn on the B3212 Postbridge-Moretonhampstead road (you can't miss the inn). Pay the guide £5. Telephone 01404 44579 for more information. On Saturday 17 November, you can brush up on your naviation skills during a 6hr Dartmoor 'improver's navigation' event. Starts at the High Moorland Visitor Centre, Princetown. (Map ref is SX 589 730) You'll need to book this one on 01822 890414 - it costs £6 and begins at 10:00. Bring a map and compass if possible, and a packed lunch and drink. There's a large car park in the town centre. Princetown is about 34 miles from the farm.
On 20 November a woman guide will lead a 2hr walk for women, starting from Hound Tor at 11:00. Get an introduction to Dartmoor in the company of other women. Costs £3. Meet in the car park west of Hound Tor. From the B3357 Bovey Tracey - Widecombe road, a mile from Hemsworthy Gate cattle grid, take the signed turning for the Tor. It's about 35 miles from your self-catering accommodation.
On Sunday 25 November, take a 4hr, 9km/5.6m Dartmoor guided walk from Yes Tor And High Willhays. Enjoy the views and eat your lunch (don't forget it!) at the highest point on Dartmoor. Turn up for a 10:30 start at Prewley, and pay the guide £5. This walk is suitable reasonably fit walkers who want to enjoy the moor at a lively pace. Park up the small track off the A386, 3/4 mile north of Sourton Village. It's signed for the Granite Way. Map ref. SX 544 910. Sourton is about 18 miles from our accommodation.
